For a whole lot of reasons, mankind has been fishing for 100s of 1000s of years. There really is something primal and pure about catching your own food, and then cooking and eating it - especially when in our modern world, 99% of what we eat comes off a shelf as opposed to a hook (or spear, bow & arrow, gun, club, etc)
These days for most of us fishing is recreational event, as opposed to our ancestors who fished because they had to, for survival. We're far more lucky. More than anything, fishing gives you quiet time to spend with yourself, or fun times to spend with your family and friends. Port Phillip Bay might not offer tropical big-game fishing, and you'll never see a Marlin in the Bay, let alone catch one, but our Bay is a great place to fish, and there's plenty of the critters out there just waiting for you.
The following links provide information and assistance on all things fishing in and around Port Phillip Bay. We hope you'll find them a helpful resource.
